In Europe, yachtsmen, port and customs employees are surprised to find out that Russia has its own satellite navigation system GLONASS and get even more surprised with the fact that this GLONASS really works. We accept many guests here at our yacht and not without some pride show them GLONASS and tell about it. This lets us feel the messengers of the Russian innovative technology.

Our next destination is the island of Madeira, then the Cape Verde islands and, finally, a passage across the Atlantic Ocean. A new device for automatic ship identification is very helpful during the voyage. The boat is equipped with the satellite navigation and communications system. Colleagues from Russian Institute of Space Device Engineering provided us with emergency beacons, which we haven’t used even once, and hope we’ll not need to turn them on, yet, the very presence of these beacons warms our hearts. All these hi-tech novelties encourage and make us confident.
